“We believe in God.” You can believe in God or you can believe in chance but you can’t believe in both.

This photo was taken by Randy Wolff of Winston and Jonathan and he wanted me to post it. It is one of my favorites.  They kind of remind me of Capt. Call and Gus McCrae and I feel sure they were "postulizing" on their next adventure!!  Thanks for the photo Randy!  Love, Donna

  3. Hi, Jonathan. This is Sue, Donna and Winston's friend from Pearl where they made their documentary. (www.unbrokendocumentary.com and www.pearlbluegrass.com)

    Winston told me that you're the one who helped them put the air conditioner in their cute "Tater Tot" trailer the last time they were at Pearl. Great job! It looks like it was designed that way!

    I love that photo of you and Winston in Colorado with your hats and that pretty horse. I used to have a lighter colored paint that I rode when I was younger. Nice!

    So sorry to hear about you getting cancer. Try not to let it worry you too much. There are lots of people who successfully overcome it and I know you can, too!

    I read an interesting article I thought you might like to hear about. The article explained about the cancer fighting proteins that our bodies create naturally called interferons and interleukins. Interferons are produced by our immune system to attack (ie "interfere" with) invading illness. Interleukins also assist with the body's own immune system response and are produced by our white blood cells. (That's why when you have an infection your blood results might show you have a higher than normal number of white blood cells.)

    Although you can be given manufactured versions of these proteins what seemed exciting to me is that you also have a way to stimulate your own body to produce more of the natural substances on its own.

    Do you recall how you can actually feel something good flowing through your blood right after you've had one of those really big belly laughs? Or after you've completely focused on an activity that was really fun for you like playing a sport, riding a roller coaster, or racing your horse across a field? :-)

    They say that doing that the things you love actually boosts your immune system. Even though you might not be able to go out and play a sport or ride a horse right now you still can choose what things to think about - and this article said that your body will often react to an imagined or remembered event the same way it did when it was occurring. It doesn't know the difference!

    So the author encourages us to try to push aside fearful thoughts that can cause production of adrenaline and other harmful chemicals and instead put our mind on everything and everyone that we love and enjoy.

    I don't know many bible verses but this kind of makes me think of that one passage that says, "whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about these things."

    Hang in there, Jonathan. I'm sorry you have to face this scary experience but I'm convinced that if you can keep your spirits up and allow your friends and family to support and help you that you'll make it through with flying colors.

    Now go make some interleukins!

  4. Ok...I trust the world with you, and look at what happens! This must just be a small tangent on your path, because I 've told everyone that you are going to be my trophy husband, and you know how I am! So, no lying down on the job, you have an entire army behind you....what's it going to be? You know, maybe if you hadn't been such an overachiever, the ante wouldn't be upped so high. What that tells me is that God believes you are up for the challenge. You aren't alone there! You abide in so many hearts, I don't know how you do it. But now it's time to focus on yourself and let those hearts carry your load. You can do this...
